Abstract
The cause of most enterocutaneous fistula is surgical comlication.
It should be emphasized that the rational surgical judgement and 'Preventive' surgical technique are required to avoid this surgical disaster.
It is now widely agreed that healing of fistula is primarily related to the local anatomic condition.
But nutritional support is probably one of the contrbuting factor in improvements of mortality and spontaneous closure fate(SCR).
Although conventional total parenteral nutrition(cTPN) is still standard technique of nutrition in fistula management, other techniques including entertal nutrition and total nutrient admixture(TNA) as parenteral method have been much improved in
the
aspect of cost, convenience, safety and theoretical base buring the end of 1980 s.
So I believe that the availability of these various thechniques enables us to meet the occurrence of postoperative fistula with more easiness and expect much improved outcomes in the treatment.
